I haven't done an album of the week in a while, that's probably because it is so hard for me to choose what album should take that top spot. This week I couldn't resist as this album has been on constant repeat, Sehnsucht - Rammstein. This album may be Rammstein's finest hour and from start to finish is a montage of great riffing, song writing and that German industrial sound we all know and love, so let's get to it.
This album would mark Rammstein's global success and the beginning of them becoming a household name. The album contains their biggest hit Du Hast, but also other classics such as Tier, Buck Dich, Engel. This album is so great because it is Rammstein during their early days, with powerful songs, memorable lyrics (if you speak German) and sing alongs which bring the crowd together. The album at many times is surprisingly heavy but the band knows how to write songs which get you in that Rammstein groove. This groove is hard to describe but if you are a fan you know what I mean. It is that feeling of movement and energy, being in tune with the drums and feeling the riff. Rammstein is one of the only bands who can do that to an audience, even if you've never heard their music. I one day hope I can see them live, because from what I've seen, their shows look incredible.
