For me personally, it is hard to describe what this genre of music means to me, and I'm sure fans and the people who may read this will understand. There is a certain feeling about metal that is intangible and is hard to describe. For many it is not merely about the music, it has become a lifestyle, a means of expression and an escape that only you can personally understand.
I am sure, like myself, many of you where drawn to metal by its rawness, complete disregard for the system, power and expression. It is one of the few genres in music, maybe only genre which is completely unpolished, unprocessed and its musicians and fans divulge in it out of pure love. The brotherhood of metal is something you won't find anywhere else, (unfortunately this is slowly being killed by elitists). Its fans are not concerned with the opinions of others, and concerts are attended for enjoyment and energy, not for Snapchat or Instagram stories.
The feeling of being in a mosh pit, the sweat, blood and pain is a release like no other, and I truly believe metal speaks to its fans like no other genre of music does.
Its artists are not concerned with the opinions of others and stay true to themselves and musical direction, which is something fans both relate to and respect. It is the soundtrack of the underground, the music to the outsider and metal will always remain that way, and I think its fans would have it no other way.
